Happy World Water Day 2023!💧🌍

At Union Bank, we believe in the power of social entrepreneurship and are committed to accelerating change by supporting innovative solutions to water challenges in Nigeria and Africa. Our partnership with LEAP Africa and the Sahara Foundation through the Social Innovators Programme (SIP) allows us to support young Africans who are making a difference in their communities by expanding access to water conservation systems, providing solar-powered infrastructure, and innovating for climate-adaptive food security in Africa.

World Water Day 2023: Accelerating Change for a Sustainable Future

On this World Water Day, we want to highlight some of the amazing social innovators we have had the privilege of working with through the SIP program:

Uche Greg Atsuwe is the founder of Anieze International Limited (AIL), which provides effective water sanitation and hygiene (EWASH) services to underserved communities across sub-Saharan Africa rural communities through hybrid automated solar power technology.

Mmekidmfonabasi Umana founded Aimcare NG, Water for All (WALL) Initiative, an online platform that connects rural communities, schools, or health centers in need of clean water in Africa with international and local donors. Aimcare produces quality hygiene products and smartly packaged these products to sell to private boarding schools, injecting funds into his social enterprise to ensure sustainability.

James Madhier founded The Rainmaker Enterprise (SIF), which creates solar-powered water infrastructure for climate-adaptive, food secure, and peaceful communities.

Matthias Ameh is the founder of Spunvertek Solar Water Pump Inverter (SIF), the leading solution provider for global solar and water conservancy systems, as well as the professional manufacturer of solar pumping inverters, solar pumping systems, solar water-saving irrigation systems, and solar seawater desalination systems.

We are inspired by these social innovators and are honored to support their work through the SIP program. But we know that we can’t do this alone. We need everyone to join us in changing their water consumption habits and becoming advocates for water efficiency.

Together, let’s #AccelerateChange and make a difference for our planet. 💚
