The Edu360 and Awarri partnership is designed to build an ecosystem that prepares young people for the future of work by training them to create tech solutions for some of Africa’s biggest challenges. Awarri is an indigenous artificial intelligence company founded by Silas Adekunle.

The partnership will feature the integration of 3D printing, Robotics and AI into the curriculum of several schools via teacher training and a Robotics challenge.

The partnership is igniting a new era of possibilities with Robotics. Here’s a chance to help solve Nigeria’s biggest problems.

40 kids will be selected to learn Robotics via a unique virtual and on-site learning experience. They will receive:

  • A tablet
  • Mekamon
  • Online Virtual Classes
  • On-site learning experience

This competition is open to kids aged 11-16 years who have a UnionLegend or UnionInfinity Account.

What is Awarri?

Awarri is a pan-African advanced artificial intelligence and robotics company founded by Silas Adekunle, to build lasting technology solutions to some of Africa’s biggest challenges.

What is Edu360?

Edu360 is Union Bank’s initiative to promote Nigerian education and secure the future of the Nigerian child. It is the foremost educational gathering in the country for interaction, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among key stakeholders within the education sector.

What is the Edu360 x Awarri partnership about?

With a mutual interest in strengthening the education sector and preparing young students for the future, the initiative was born to enrich the Nigerian education ecosystem by providing fundamental training in 3D Printing, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence(A.I.).

What is The Search for the Next Robotics Legend?

It is a six-week online robotics training camp organised by Edu360 in collaboration with Awarri. It will provide students with an introductory course in Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and 3D printing. After the training, participants will be required to proffer solutions to community challenges using the skills learnt.

Is The Search for the Next Robotics Legend a training or competition?

It is both training and competition. 40 successful applicants will be trained on the basics of robotics and then compete to build solutions for community challenges.

Where will the training take place?

The training will take place online and on-site in selected locations like Ibadan, Yola and Lagos

What is next after The Search for the Next Robotics Legend?

To bring robotics into the secondary school curriculum and classroom starting with a partnership with four (4) schools with either (8) teachers and twenty-five (25) students per school, as well as the provision of tool kits (tablets and Mekamon robots).

Can I apply without my parents' consent?

No. Only 11-16-year-old students are eligible to participate, as this falls below the consent age, approval is needed from a parent/guardian.

What are the key dates?

Submission of entries begins on the 9th of August and ends on the 23rd of August.

The successful participants will be contacted directly and announced on our social media platforms on the 31st of August.

How will the entries be graded?

Participants will be selected based on elements of passion, creativity and interest in the program.

How can I enter my child/ward for The Search for Next Robotics Legend?

Make a 1-Minute video of your ward telling us why they should be selected for the programme. Upload a link to the video here and fill in all the required fields. Make sure you are following all our social media pages.

Who can participate in this programme?

Students aged 11-16 who are interested in creativity and robotics, have a Union Legend or UnionInfinity account, reside in Nigeria and have consent from their parents/guardians.

How do I open a Union Legend or UnionInfinity account?

How will I get my training materials when selected?

The training materials, which include a Mekamon and a tab, will be available at the on-site location OR couriered to you at the address you provide for students being trained virtually.

What is a Mekamon?

Mekamon is a four-legged robot with lifelike movement, outstanding build, quality, and a personality of its own. Mekamon offers an unparalleled STEAM education experience through advanced robotics and the ReachEdu app.

What do I need to know about participating in the program?

At the end of the submission phase, each successful candidate will be contacted directly. The training will hold three days a week for an hour and a half each day.

I do not have a personal computer. Can I still apply?

Yes, each student selected to take part will be given one tablet and one Mekamon robot for the duration of the exercise.

What do students/children stand to gain?

The winner of the challenge will receive mentorship with Awarri

What do schools gain if we choose to partner with them?

Selected schools will be trained in Robotics, A.I., and 3D printing. This is a competitive field in today’s workforce and will give the schools a competitive advantage. In addition, the schools will keep the Mekamons used for the training to ensure that the students can be trained even after the programme is concluded.
