A big thank you to all our employees who donated towards the Union Bank Employee Volunteering Initiative this year. With the #1000DifferenceChallenge, your donation is providing potable water systems to 6 communities in Nigeria. We have commissioned two potable water systems so far in Kano and Abuja.
*This page will be updated on an ongoing basis as we reach more communities*
Kano (Before)
Over 1000 indigenes of the Gidan Dagachi Kureken Sani Community in Kumbotso LGA, Kano State formerly depended on the stream pictured below as their only source of water. This stream typically dries up after raining season and the community is left stranded, needing to travel miles to get water.
Kano (After)
On Friday, 18th September 2020, we commissioned a Borehole in the community and trained a ten-man indigenous team to manage the project.
Abuja (Before)
For many years, students in Kpebi-Sarki community, Asokoro District, Abuja have had to travel miles to a river in a neighboring community for water. Apart from the impact on their general wellbeing, this also posed a serious safety and security threat.
Abuja (After)
On Saturday, 19th September 2020, we commissioned a 4-Tap Borehole in the community and trained a ten-man indigenous team to manage the project.
