Meet Team Union, The Group of Elite Athletes That Represented Nigeria at the Summer Olympic Games, Rio 2016
The Summer Olympic Games, Rio 2016, may have come and gone but Team Union won’t be forgotten in a hurry. This is a group of world class athletes who trained hard to represent Nigeria at the Summer Olympic Games, Rio 2016 and were proudly sponsored to the games by Union Bank.
These elite athletes showed in their various disciplines that hard work pays and determination gets you to the finish line and we’re proud to be associated with them. Hear from Hannah Babalola, Wheel-chair athlete and multiple African Record holder in the women’s T54 category.
“Right now, I am Unstoppable. Going out there with full determination. With full force to do what I love doing most.” Road to Rio – Hannah Babalola
Paralyzed from the waist down since age 7, Hannah, overcame all odds to emerge as the inspiring role model she is today. She started her wheel-chair racing career in 2011, training at the famous Liberty Stadium, Ibadan. She was a member of Team Union to the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Hannah is living proof people can triumph in spite of adversity if they work hard, remain resolute and get a bit of support. Challenges, physical or otherwise, should never stand in the way of anyone’s dreams but should be considered stepping stones on the stairs to success.
By the time the final member of Team Union was set to participate at the Summer Games, we rolled out applications to members of the public to join Team Union.
Do you know a modern-day superhero who has lived out this truth? Someone who deserves to be part of Team Union? Someone who has achieved amazing things despite serious difficulties? Could this person be you?
